Sean Burns is the recently installed ALISE 2025-26 President. The Innovative Pedagogies Special Interest Group will host President Burns as he discusses in more depth his ALISE Presidential Platform, The Good Question:_______ on Friday November 7th. This is an opportunity to dive into what might be some “Good Questions.” For those who were not able to attend the 2025 ALISE conference in Kansas City, this is an opportunity to hear about and engage the ALISE President about the 2025-26 theme and platform.
Part of the points for the discussion during this session also include continuing the oral history project that Dr. Burns co-produced with Dr. Tony Dunbar. The current oral history effort builds off of Burns’ initial efforts in 2014-15. The President has a plan to further the work through the ALISE Oral History Special Interest Group. Sean is also open to discussing additional ideas from members about their ideas about the 2026 conference. Please come be in community with the ALISE Innovative Pedagogies SIG on Friday, November 7th – 2 PM CST / 3 PM EST.
The 2025-26 ALISE Conference Planning Committee working with Dr Burns is:
- John T. F. Burgess, Assistant Professor, School of Information Studies, University of Alabama
- Africa S. Hands, Assistant Professor, Dept of Information Science, University of Buffalo
- Charles Sutton, Assistant Professor, Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering, Indiana University-Indianapolis
The ALISE membership is welcomed and encouraged to join. Also open to the public who may be interested in the Association of Library and Information Science Educators.

The session will then pivot to a roundtable discussion on the topic.During this informal event, we’ll share what we’re doing, what people are interested in learning about, and where potential collaborations are.
